Editorial policy

Editorial policy on this site is built around a simple promise to you.

Every broker fee, tax rule and licence detail shows where you can verify it and the date we read it.

You won't find star ratings, sales pitches or hidden rankings anywhere on our pages.

Checking broker pages and the FCA register

Each firm listed on our regulated forex brokers page receives a check against the public register. UK financial firms fall under the supervision of the Financial Conduct Authority, known here as FCA. Using the official register interface, we check each firm's reference number. It identifies the UK legal entity that holds the licence and the products that entity can offer you.

Many visitors read about a CFD, which is short for contract for difference. With a CFD, you trade based on price movements rather than owning the currency or share itself. Each broker's UK website provides the fees and account terms we read. UK retail protections apply to you as well. The FCA handbook sets negative balance protection, margin close out at 50% and leverage caps. Leverage is borrowed trading power from a broker that multiplies your potential gains and your losses. UK rules cap retail leverage at 30:1 for major currencies, 20:1, 10:1 and 5:1 for shares.

For spread betting tax and CFD tax, our HMRC manual quotes include the reference and the date we read it. We never provide personal tax advice. We neither seek user reviews nor scrape ratings from other websites. We record each Trustpilot score, count and date manually or under licence, and include a link.

Why don't your tables include broker rankings or scores?

Promoting investments requires FCA permission under Section 21 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. If a message invites or persuades you to begin trading or choose a broker, it's a financial promotion. Inducements may include scores, rankings or buttons that push you toward opening an account. The FCA hasn't authorised us yet. On 31 October 2026, our company decided to apply for FCA authorisation for itself. The regulator takes up to 6 months for a complete application and 12 months for an incomplete application.

Until approval is granted, you see this site as purely factual, as our disclosure explains. All brokers in each comparison table appear in alphabetical order. A broker's name or logo is clickable, but no part of the page attempts to persuade you. You won't find any bonus offers, scores, verdicts or pros and cons anywhere on the site. None of our tools tells you to open an account, including the margin calculator and pip calculator.

Dates for fees, risk warnings and tax rules

We show the date we read each fee table, tax quote and register check. You can always judge how recent a number is. For instance, our broker pages show figures dated 31 October 2026. Every CFD broker must also publish a retail loss percentage under UK rules. Firms recalculate the percentage every 3 months using the preceding 12 months.

Every 3 months, we review each UK broker's website and include the date beside the figure. The figure varies by entity and between pages on one site. On 31 October 2026, Pepperstone displayed 73.6%, while Spreadex displayed 61% and 64%. Any page containing a broker link displays the full risk warning within a border at the top of your screen. It remains fixed as you scroll.

How can I report an error on a page?

You can write to our team about an outdated fee or factual error using the details on our about page. If you spot something that needs fixing, follow these steps:

  1. Please send the page link plus the figure you want us to check.
  2. Please allow us time to verify that detail against HMRC manuals, the FCA register or the broker's UK site.
  3. Return later to see the updated figure and a dated note explaining what changed.

A new warning or clone firm alert from the FCA leads us to update our pages promptly. On request, we also remove any brand logo. Our analytics don't collect your financial details; you can see how we run them in the privacy policy and terms of use.
